Alhaji Saheed Abubakar, the Sultan of Sokoto, has cautioned federal and state governments against forcing Nigerians to take Covid 19 vaccines.
Nigeria is expecting the first batch of the vaccine from Pfizer in some weeks’ time; the Sultan said the vaccination of Nigerians with Covid 19 should not be made compulsory.
The top traditional rulers spoke on the issue at the sensitization program on covid 19 for Muslim callers and Imams in Abuja,
He recalled the polio mission failed because the opposition to the vaccine in 2005 was high before it was later accepted.
The Sultan, however, said he is optimistic that Covid 19 vaccine would be accepted by Nigerians through adequate knowledge and information about it.
Earlier, Governor Yaya Bello had urged Nigerians to beware of Covid 19 vaccine.
