“PROVIDE WATER OR BE FIRED” GOV. ABIODUN THREATENS OGUN WATER GM

The Ogun State Governor, Prince Dapo Abiodun has threatened to sack the General Manager of the State Water Corporation, Engineer Oluseye Maku over the scarcity of water in the State.
Abiodun gave the warning at a two-day Treasury Board Meeting on 2021 Budget, held at the Obas Complex, Oke-Mosan, Abeokuta.
In a statement by Kunle Somorin, CPS to Governor Abiodun, Somorin stressed that the governor expressed anger at the state of Public Water supply by the Corporation.
The governor advised the leadership of the Water Corporation to ensure the immediate supply of pipe borne water to all nooks and crannies of the Ogun state.
He asked the GM and his team to sit up or be fired.
Meanwhile, the general manager had said that the Corporation was working towards rehabilitating various Water Schemes and also constructing 20 Water Hubs to save the people.
A visibly angry Dapo Abiodun had interjected the GM who requested for additional four weeks to put measures in place for a good pipeline construction, saying he hoped that Maku would be the person to execute the water project and not someone else.
The Governor, who described water as a basic necessity of life, described the damage done to water supply in the state as a result of dislocation of water pipes during the expansion of roads in the State Capital.
