Are you Satisfied With The Federal Government Policy On Teachers To Be Sixty Five Years Old Before They Retire?
I am never in support of increasing retirement age of teachers from 60 to 65 and from 35 to 40, because the policy is not good for our system. For instance ,if you look at the employment rate in the country now what we note is that it is totally bad for our system: where we have several thousands of graduates roaming about the street without good jobs at hand, how can you say you are increasing the retirement age from 35 to 40
In other words, what the Government is trying to increase is the management level of teachers because by the time you retire at the age of 60 and 35 years in service, you must have reached the marginal level in form of principal or vice principal and as a principal or vice principal ,it is no longer active in the system.
Apart from that, if you are saying you are increasing the service what you are saying is that there will be no provision for attainment in both primary and secondary Schools.
The Issue Of TUC, Are You Satisfied With The Position Of The State Government That, They Will Pay In October? Have They Paid?
We signed an agreement with the State Government that they will commence the payment on October, this year 2020. Up till now, the Government has not uttered a single word.
If They Don’t Pay, What Will Be The Next Line Action Of The TUC?
We have nothing to do, than to go with the constitutional means of the Labour Union, by calling the congress and allowing workers in Ogun State to decide the next line of action.
The Last Labour Issue, The Generality Of The People Are Not Happy With Labour In The Country, Including Ogun State. What Is Your Reaction?
I will continue to appeal to the generality of Nigerians, not even only the workers this time around. We are not controlling the national body, so it will be difficult for me, either to condemn or to praise our leaders at the national level, but as a Labour leader in Ogun State, I know how they were feeling at the top.
Were You Happy To Have Met The Governor At Last?
We are very happy because, at times, lack of communication causes a lot of problems. We were unable to see the Governor then, but now that we have met with him, His Excellency promised all the pledge he had with the labour movement and we also believe the payment will be made this October.
He Promised To Give Organized Labour, Ministry Of Labour. He Didn’t Do That Or has heDone That?
Any promise made during the campaign time is not the promise that you can equally say it is accepted by the Policy of the government. Truly, he promised Ministry of Labour by the time he was doing the campaign though. We will still continue to remind him and then believe he will do the needful.
Let’s Look At The Issue Of Asuss, Are You Satisfied With Your Leadership And Followership As The Leader Of Asuss?
I will continue to manage myself and the people who are my followers. There is no way I can do all that they want, I will just try to do the needful I can do and I will leave the rest for God and I want the followership also to know that; there is no way they will do everything that I will like, they just have to do their best and leave the rest to God.
