OGUN ASSEMBLY MAY PASS NO MORE TRADITIONAL BURIAL BILL FOR OGUN OBAS

Ogun State House of Assembly is working on a bill that would enable traditional rulers in Ogun to determine their modes of installation and burial.

According to Hon. Akeem  Balogun who sponsored the bill, fundamental rights of traditional rulers to decide their modes of installation and burial regarding their religious beliefs, it is time to end an old practice and associate with modality in Ogun State.

Another law maker Oludaisi Elemide added that the new impact of the bill is to end cannibalism which was inherited from dark ages, revealing that the bill will make the traditional theme more attractive to people of high pedigree who facilitates the development of their community.

The speaker of the House, Olakunle Oluomo said, everybody especially traditional rulers should not be subjected to any form of inhuman and degrading act. He referred the bill to the House Committee on Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs for legislative actions.
